Our story
Our Church Mothers of Zion ministry was founded on January 20, 1980, by our own Superintendent James G. Cox Sr., before Inspired by the Word COGIC was established. Previously, there was Grace Temple COGIC, where Superintendent Cox grew up in the Church of God in Christ.
Superintendent Cox remembers the church mothers who paved the way—women who prayed over the church, helped keep our girls and young ladies off the streets, and supported preteens and single mothers in times of need.
Today, we continue to honor those roots by keeping our church mothers actively involved in our ministry. Under the new leadership of Pastor Marlita, we remain committed to the vision of restoring and uplifting our mothers as they serve others, minister to those in need, and seek those who are lost.
Our church mothers have made a meaningful impact on our new pastor, offering support, wisdom, and guidance throughout her ministry as she serves God’s people.

We support our church and community by helping bring our Pastor’s vision to life. We provide guidance for girls and young women, offer support to pregnant teens, young women, and single mothers, and extend compassion to those facing life’s challenges and crises.
